This came up at my last caregiver support group meeting, what happens to my loved one if something happens to me? I had thought of this a year or so ago.
If I get hit by a bus crossing the road on the way to gym, what do my sons know about taking care of my wife.
My first thought was the meds. So I opened up my word processor and created a list of meds. Then I thought, what about the MDs, who they are and their contact info. Then I thought about insurance. Twelve pages later I had completed my Caregiver Instructions for Mom.
I included a list of friends, neighbors, who was good about being around Mom and who was not, and what they did together, coffee, movies; the itinerary for the day, Subway for lunch, flatbread veggies and cheese (extra cheese) at the Subway in Wilton Center where they all knew us and had patience with my wife; Judge Judy from 4 to 5,the Village Market for prepared food for dinner, checkout with Iris so Mom can chat with her.
