AFTD Announces Education Conference – April 24, 2015

CT FTD Foundation 4th Annual Wine Tasting

Wine TastingThe CT FTD Foundation announced their 4th Annual Wine Tasting will be on March 7th, 2015 at the CoCo Key Water Resort-Hotel-Convention Center in Waterbury from 7pm to 11pm. There will be wine and beer tastings, a live band, raffles, and appetizers.

Ticket prices are $35.00 ($40.00 at door) and can be bought online or by check made payable to The CT FTD Foundation. Checks can be sent to PO Box 462 Marion, CT 06444.

Support Group Meetings this month – January 2015

Happy New Year! Start off the year with a resolution of attending one of the Caregiver Support Groups:

FTD Caregiver Support Group  – NYC  – next meeting – Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Meets the first and third Wednesday. Time: 4:30pm to 5:45pm

Location : The Alzheimer’s Association 360 Lexington Ave., 3rd Floor, New York, NY – a couple of blocks from Grand Central Terminal

Alzheimer’s / Dementia Caregiver Support Group – Norwalk, CT – next meeting – Thursday, January 8th, 2015.

Meetings are on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. Time: 10:30am – 11:30am

The Caregiver Support Group at the Norwalk Senior Center is for caregivers of family members or friends diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or Dementia. The group offers caregivers an opportunity to share their experiences, help others by sharing their ideas, find out about resources and information that might be helpful. Meetings are friendly and informal. Occasionally there are themes and guest speakers.

At the first meeting of the month, there are usually Dementia Care Specialists from Wilton Meadows who provide activities for loved ones while caregivers meet. Call ahead to confirm.

FTD Caregiver Support Group – Farmington, CT about an hour from the Norwalk area – next meeting – Sunday, January 18, 2015

Meetings are the third Sunday of every month. Arden Courts of Farmington, 45 South Rd Farmington, CT. Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm

The CT FTD Foundation has a support group meeting for all caregiver’s and families/friends who have a loved one diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

Our support group meetings are a chance for everyone to share their experiences and express concerns. It also gives a chance to share ideas that have worked for other caregivers going through the same experience. Meetings are informal.  You are welcome to bring your loved one with FTD, Arden Courts will provide respite care in a separate room.  Please just let us know in advance if your loved one will attend.
